behind the glass
ancient minds lie dormant
out of reach
to a finger's touch
a smile forgotten
in search of what has been committed
to the darkness
behind the pane
there lies sorrow
in the season's mirror
covered by the budding flowers
and by the fallen leaves
translucent ocean pillars
taking the beating of the tides
steadfast and resolved
to keep those dark doors submerged
there lies pain
retreading buried trails
swept away by wind and sea
left swimming in the sand
when the glass yet cracks
splinters lodged in flesh and eye
the knowledge gained, a curse
inflicted by the light of distant stars
